Omer Asik diagnosed with a gastrointestinal infection; will miss remainder of
season
New Orleans Pelicans center Omer Asik, who has not played in a game since
Feb. 10, was diagnosed with having a gastrointestinal infection that occurred
while he was on vacation in Mexico during the NBA All-Star break in February.
Asik, who lost a significant amount of weight due to his illness according to
Coach Alvin Gentry, will miss the remaining seven games and is not expected
to return to basketball activities until three to four weeks.

尽管本季一开始身体算是相当健康，也多次担任鹈鹕队的先发中锋
但是Asik的表现却不甚理想，导致他的上场机会大幅锐减，逐渐被边缘化
本季目前出赛数31场(其中先发19场) 场均仅2.7分5.3篮板
另外鹈鹕队今天也宣布阵中的前锋 Quincy Pondexter 本季提前结束
今年一月份刚刚动完膝盖手术，伤势尚未完全复原
已经是连续两个球季都无法上场，而他的合约将于下个球季结束之后到期
