ABC’s broadcast of the NBA Finals Game 7, in which the Cavaliers emerged
triumphant over the Golden State Warriors, delivered an 18.9 overnight rating
in metered-market households, marking the highest-rated NBA game ever on ABC.
(The second-highest rated NBA game on ABC is now the Los Angeles Lakers vs.
Boston Celtics Game 7 circa 2010, which drew an 18.2 overnight rating.)
What’s more, Sunday night’s Game 7 stands as the highest-rated sports
telecast on ABC or ESPN since 2006.

The Cavs’ championship night was up 7 percent from the most recent NBA

— and it peaked from 10:30-10:45 pm with a 25.5 overnight rating. In the
Cleveland market, the thriller scored a 46.3, while San Francisco generated a
39.4.
