Phil Jackson confirmed that Carmelo Anthony gave the Knicks a bit of a
discount, which will allow them to have more cap space in 2015.
The deal is reportedly in the $122-$123 million range over five years, and
it's believed that Melo didn't take the 7.5 percent raise in Year 2 of the
deal, which will give the Knicks an additional $2 million in cap space in
2015. "He did exactly what we kind of asked him to do,’’ Jackson said.
"Give us a break in the early part of the contract when we have some wiggle
room — hopefully big enough wiggle room — next year when we can exploit it.
