There is an ongoing dream scenario in Boston that has the Celtics landing
Utah small forward Gordon Hayward, who played at Butler for rookie Boston
coach Brad Stevens. As CSNNE reported, the Celtics would have an interest in
acquiring Hayward ahead of Thursday’s trading deadline.
Problem is, the Jazz have no interest in sending Hayward anywhere, a source
told Sporting News this week.

At 24-30, the Charlotte Bobcats are clinging to the final seed in the Eastern
Conference playoff race, and are eager to make a move to maintain that
postseason spot before Thursday’s trade deadline. The team has been to the
playoffs just once in its 10-year history, and owner Michael Jordan has made
a playoff berth the team’s top priority.
One target that has emerged, league sources told Sporting News, is shooting
guard Anthony Morrow, a player who interested the Bobcats before he signed in
New Orleans last summer. Morrow leads the league in 3-point shooting, at 48.0
percent, which would boost a Charlotte roster short on shooters. The Bobcats
are 17th in the NBA in 3-point percentage and 28th in 3-point attempts.
The Bobcats have also expressed interest in Orlando guard Arron Afflalo going
back almost two months now, and the possibility of absorbing his contract
before Thursday’s deadline is a consideration, too.
The Pelicans would like to get a draft pick in return for Morrow, and the
Bobcats hold the rights to Portland’s pick, which figures to go in the
mid-20s. Considering the talent level that is in this upcoming draft, that
might be too steep a price for the Bobcats to pay.
Charlotte has also been pushing for frontcourt help, and would be eager to
dump center Bismack Biyombo, sources said. Interest in him, though, has been
very limited.
