很多赛事 包括各大洲杯锦标赛[和资格赛] 世界杯资格赛 奥运资格赛
都将有重大改变

2019世界杯篮球赛:

参赛球队将扩编为32队 主办国 1席 非洲 5席 美洲 7席 亚洲大洋洲 7席 欧洲 12席
世界杯资格赛将采主客双循环制 类似世界杯足球赛的资格赛
比赛月有:2017年11月 2018年2 6 9 11月 2019年2月 每队每个比赛月打两场 一主一客
赛制如下:
第一轮:美洲区 非洲区 亚大区 每区的DIVISION A 有16队参赛
16队分成4组 每组4队 打主客双循环
各组前三名晋级第二轮 各组最后一名降级至DIVISION B
欧洲区的DIVISION A 有32队参赛
32队分成8组 每组4队 打主客双循环
各组前三名晋级第二轮 各组最后一名降级至DIVISION B
第二轮:每一个洲晋级的球队 分成6队一组
打主客双循环赛 第一轮同组对战成绩保留
这个赛制跟现行的亚锦赛复赛相同
A B组前三名共6队 编入E组 预赛同组对战成绩保留

The first round of the Americas, Asia / Oceania and Africa qualifiers will
feature 16 teams each, whereas Europe will have 32 teams. Division A teams
will be split in groups of four, to be held in a home-and-away round-robin.
The top three teams in each groups will advance to round two, and last placed
teams will play the best Division B teams to qualify for the next season's
Division A.
In round two of the World Cup qualifiers, teams will be split in groups of six,
totalling four groups in Europe and four in the other qualifiers. Teams will
carry over the points from round one, and face another three teams again in a
home-and-away round-robin. The best teams in each group will qualify for the
World Cup.
There are concerns from national associations that they will not be abled to
play the qualifiers with National Basketball Association players, which was
possible with the continental championships held in mid-year.

奥运资格赛的部份 将在2020年6月举行
详情不清楚 但世界杯冠军将直接晋级奥运
各大洲锦标赛 也将改成四年一次
下一次亚锦赛将在2017年举行
再下一次是2021年 到时候亚洲大洋洲将变成"亚太锦标赛"
2021年的亚太锦标赛资格赛 也是打主客双循环赛
