home against the Bulls. This is the 13th straight season in which the
defending NBA champions opened their season at home; the 2000-01 Lakers were
the last such team not to do so (they opened in Portland). Defending
champions are 10-3 over their last 13 season openers. The losers over that
span were the 2011-12 Mavericks (lost to the Heat), 2006-07 Heat (lost to the
Bulls), and 2002-03 Lakers (lost to the Spurs)
