Dwight Howard admits seeing psychiatrist last season

Welcome back, everyone, to the show that never ends: Dwight Howard's
incredible ability to never stop talking.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Howard dodged questions about his
free agency decisions, made jokes about his inability to hit free throws, and
generally played the clown he always does. And as always, Howard said that he
no longer cared what people thought of while constantly talking about how
much what people say bothers him.
Oh, and he's been seeing a team shrink:
"I have only one problem and it's between my ears," he said, while admitting
he visited a Lakers' psychiatrist. "I just think too much."

It was all good, Howard singing and rolling with every trash jab, although
admitting he no longer intends to be a people-pleaser.
"I can't do it anymore," he said. "I can't please everybody."
What prompted the change?
"When I came back from my shoulder injury, some didn't think I was giving my
all," he said. "And nobody wanted to hear what I said about coming off back
surgery. It wasn't fair to me. I was on a walker and four months later
playing basketball. I played hurt."

Couple things:
1. A lot of players wind up using the services of team psychiatrists. This
shouldn't be indicative of anything about Howard. But the fact that the
pressure had gotten to Howard bad enough to elicit that response does say
something.
2. Howard's right that the returned from injury too early. That was evident
throughout the year with the way he struggled, physically. But to say it
wasn't fair, that's just not going to play well. Again, it's not that
Howard's position is out of line. It's that he wonders why people talk and
write about him the way they do, and then says things that make him write and
say things about him.
3. He still can't hit free throws.
