On a night when Kristaps Porzingis rejoined the frontcourt, the Mavericks lost another key player to injury.
Center Dwight Powell left Dallas’ game against the Clippers late in the first quarter with an right Achilles injury, the team confirmed.
As Powell had possession and drove toward the basket, he appeared to lose his footing and went to the American Airlines Center floor untouched. The 28-year-old immediately writhed in pain, and coaches and teammates from the Mavericks’ bench surrounded him on the court.
As members of the Mavericks’ support staff helped him from the court to the locker room, Powell did not put any weight on his right leg.
