Manchester United player ratings: Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka poor vs
RB Leipzig
Man United are out of the Champions League after losing to RB Leipzig and here
are how the players rated.
David de Gea - 3
Helpless for the first two goals on his return to the team and failed to instil
any confidence among those in front of him.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 2
Angelino ghosted past him so often he must have been wearing an invisibility
cloak. Wan-Bissaka doesn't like attacking and didn't like defending.
Victor Lindelof - 4
Overwhelmed by Leipzig's intensity and only looked comfortable during the
game's calmer periods. Booked in the second-half and substituted.
Harry Maguire - 3
Maguire was defensive of United's defending pre-match and if only he was as
defensive on the pitch. Overrun by Leipzig's quick forwards. Might be credited
with the second goal.
Luke Shaw - 4
Swamped on his return to the side in a back three and the rustiness was
punished by Leipzig. Also got booked.
Alex Telles - 3
Committed the same mistake as Wan-Bissaka for the second goal and was
substituted at half-time.
Scott McTominay - 5
Tried to get United going in the first-half to little avail. Stayed on to
balance out the midfield.
Nemanja Matic - 3
A risky selection that backfired before the second-minute mark. The inclusion
of Matic over Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba must have lifted Leipzig.
Bruno Fernandes - 7 (一人carry全队...惨
Isolated without another midfield foil and quickly became frustrated amid
United's porous defending. One of the more alert players and unlucky to hit the
crossbar with a free-kick but scored a penalty.
Marcus Rashford - 5
Had enough efforts to harm Leipzig and his running had them on the back foot
but he never properly tested the goalkeeper.
Mason Greenwood - 6
There were some virtuoso pieces of skill from Greenwood and though he did not
score he is undeniably back on form.
Subs
Donny van de Beek - 6
Immediately offered another attacking outlet and gave United more purpose.
Paul Pogba - 7
Leaped imperiously to force in the second goal off Maguire. Better than most
teammates.
Brandon Williams - 6
Helped push United higher up the pitch.
Axel Tuanzebe - 6
A strange late arrival but his speed helped.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah - 5
A stranger late arrival.
Manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 3
The formation was understandable but certain personnel gave United a negative
look, invited Leipzig onto them and they were hammered.
