De Gea - 7
His save from James McArthur's pile-driver might eventually be remembered as
save of the season. Rivalled his denial of Philippe Coutinho.
Bailly - 6
Soldiered on after suffering an early foul but looked the auxiliary full-back
he is and did not offer as much of a threat going forward as Daley Blind.
Jones - 7
Excellent again. Barely put a foot wrong and his basic defensive style was
just what United needed against the imposing threat of Christian Benteke.
Rojo - 7
Marred another good showing with a needlessly idiotic challenge. Risks
breaking up a fruitful partnership with Jones through his recklessness.
Blind - 7
Proved why he should be starting regularly ahead of Matteo Darmian. Assured
in defence and attack down the left.
Carrick - 6
His unassuming evening was spiced with a defence-splitting pass for Paul
Pogba. Perhaps could have been rested against Palace's reticent midfielders.
Herrera - 6
Pressed and probed in attack, doing his utmost to involve Bailly in the
right-handed combinations with Juan Mata.
Pogba - 7
His goal was reward for a varied first-half in which his passing was
sometimes so wretched Jose Mourinho was brought to his feet. Finished
expertly and provided a wonderful pass for Ibrahimovic.
Mata - 5
United supporters serenaded Henrikh Mkhitaryan repetitively on a night Mata
proved to be a significant downgrade. His passing was too lateral.
Rooney - 6
Began brightly but did little to merit his positioning on the left, where
Blind's workload was effectively doubled by Rooney roaming inside so often.
Ibrahimovic - 7
His eagerness to drop deep was still problematic and there was a lack of
alacrity at times but he got yet another crucial goal.
Subs
Lingard - 6
Lively and threatening.
Rashford - 5
Harmless.
