According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox's offer to free
agent Jon Lester "falls into the $110-120 million range over six years."
Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston said Wednesday morning that the Red Sox are not
expecting a quick decision from Lester, who can shop this proposal around to
other teams to jack up the price. The 30-year-old left-hander is also
believed to be drawing serious interest from the Cubs, Braves, and Cardinals.
He had a 2.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 220/48 K/BB ratio in 219 2/3 innings this
past season between Boston and Oakland.
