Rangers acquired OF Alex Rios and cash considerations from the White Sox in
exchange for a player to be named later.
Reports everywhere indicated that a deal was unlikely after Rios was claimed
on waivers, but the Rangers pulled it off. CSNChicago.com's Dan Hayes says
the player to be named later is expected to be Leury Garcia, but his name is
not being announced now so that he won't have to clear waivers. The $1
million the Rangers are receiving in the deal covers Rios' buyout after the
2014 campaign. Rios has batted .277/.328/.421 with 12 homers and 26 stolen
bases in 109 games this season for the White Sox and will give Texas the
right-handed bat they crave following the suspension of Nelson Cruz.
