Sandoval has broken hamate bone in left hand

Pablo Sandoval, the Giants' third baseman and second-leading hitter, has a
fractured hamate bone in his left hand, according to multiple reports on
Thursday.
Sandoval experienced a similar injury to his right hand last season and
missed 41 games. Based on that, he likely will be lost for at least six weeks.
The injury occurred in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the
Marlins. Sandoval hurt himself while grounding out in the sixth inning and
was removed from the game. Sandoval and Melky Cabrera had been the only
Giants to start in every game this season.
