Rangers, Mike Napoli have discussed extension
According to Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com, the Rangers have had several
conversations with Mike Napoli's representatives about a long-term deal.
The Rangers are making it a priority to lock up the core members of their
ballclub, also talking with the agents of Derek Holland, Ian Kinsler and Josh
Hamilton this offseason, though nothing is believed to be imminent,
especially with the clock ticking in regard to Yu Darvish. Napoli, 30, earned
$5.8 million this past season while batting .320/.414/.631 with 30 home runs,
75 RBI and a 1.046 OPS over 432 plate appearances. He is arbitration-eligible
for the final time this winter.

Oswalt telling teams he'll sign one-year deal
According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, Roy Oswalt has informed teams that he
only requires a one-year deal.
The veteran right-hander began the offseason in search of a three-year
contract, but he didn't find much interest. Now, with news that his asking
price has been lowered significantly, that interest is picking up in a major
way. Oswalt is plagued by chronic back problems but he still managed to post
a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts this past year for the Phillies. The Nationals, Red
Sox and Royals are known to be considering the veteran.

Ross lowers asking price: wants 2-year deal
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien, Cody Ross is
now seeking a two-year deal.
Ross opened the winter demanding a three-year contract, but he hasn't come
close to finding it. The 31-year-old outfielder batted just .240/.325/.405 in
121 games this past season for the Giants. He's drawn interest from the Reds
and the Cardinals. And the Giants might try to re-sign him if his demands dip
even lower.
