Wharton's optional essay for everyone (both first-time applicants and
reapplicants) is 400 words. In addition to this, reapplicants are required to
write a separate essay (not the same as the 400-word optional essay) with a
limit of 250 words to discuss how they've improved their candidacy since the
previous application and address any extenuating circumstances.
