someone who doesn't have enough money to buy food or a safe place to stay, they
may tell you that money is everything. Sometimes a person will place a value on
something that we can't understand. Someone you soon meet may seem superficial
in some way. That may not be because that person is actually superficial, but
for some more deep-seated reason that you can't see on the surface. It may have
nothing to do with money or shallow desires, but everything to do with
