Taipei Zoo welcomes a new member yesterday after #MalayanTapir "Mofen" #貘芳芳
) gave birth to a male baby in the morning of 9/13.
In an effort to increase the ex-situ population of the Malayan Tapir, #TaipeiZ
oo has participated in the #European Endangered Species Program. In 2018, a ma
le Malayan Tapir, Mok, was brought to Taipei Zoo from Czech’s Prague Zoo. Lat
er on in 2019, Mok mated with Taipei Zoo’s own Malayan Tapir, Mofen, who was
featured in the film Life of Pi.
This newborn baby is a fantastic recognition of the animal conservation effort
s between sister cities of Taipei and Prague.
