Dear Mayor Han:
I hope this letter finds you doing well since we met in Kaohsiung
in January. I enjoyed our dialogue and the opportunity to exchange
views with you.
I write now to invite you to Harvard on April 11, 2019. Our faculty
and student body is very interested to learn more about your views
on cross-Strait and Taiwanese politics. You would join a
distinguished roster of visitors from both sides of the Taiwan
Strait, all political parties, and many political persuations that
has helped to inform our reserch and teaching over the years.
We propose the following activities for your visit:
‧ Lunch for your delegation and a small group of Harvard faculty
at the Harvard Faculity Club.
‧ Tour of Harvard campus, libraries and museums
‧ Closed-door briefing for a select group of Harvard faculty and
students to exchange views on Taiwan and Cross-Strait relations.
This would begin with a presentation by you, followed by open
discussion.
We understand that your office will be responsible for your
transportation and lodging during your visit. The Fairbank Center will
organize the events outlined in this letter and any other activities
on which we mutually agree.
We very much hope that you will accept this invitation as it would
contribute to our understanding of the complex dynamics both across
the Taiwan Strait and within Taiwan. If you should have any questions,
