Abandoning Permanent Resident Status
You may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status if you:
- Move to another country intending to live there permanently
- Remain outside of the United States for more than 1 year without
obtaining a reentry permit or returning resident visa. However,

of absence from the United States may be considered, even if less
than 1 year

- Fail to file income tax returns while living outside of the United
States for any period

不过总统府的回应也有点唬这些不用功的人，根据FATCA的规定，今年7月1日只
是不遵守规定的金融机构，和不对金融机构声明是否拥有美国籍的客户，要就他
们的美国来源所得扣缴30%，然后要把户头总数和总金额传给美国国税局而已，
然后美国国税局再决定是不是要来查这些人有没有缴税，这中间至少需要一些时
间，而且美国国税局也会依照金额大小，斟酌要不要花这力气来追税，所以7月1
日根本不可能会有满天美国税单乱飞的情况发生，自然也不可能会收到税单的。
