苍蝇王、动物农庄、1984之类的经典太多人提及了，故不赘述。
特别想推荐另一部较冷门的小说：
约瑟芬‧铁伊(Josephine Tey)的《时间的女儿》(The Daughter of Time)
这是本不太像推理小说的推理小说，倒谈了很多历史。故事大纲
是一个现代(以铁伊的写作背景而言是1950年代)的警探跌断腿，
在住院期间闲著无聊，于是着手调查一桩五百年前的谋杀案。
这本小说对中文读者而言冷门是因内容牵涉太多英国史，尤其是
玫瑰战争及理查三世的生平。脸谱多年前有在台湾出版中文翻译，
还附唐诺的导读(我很欣赏唐诺的推理小说导读文章)，但我也听
过批评说脸谱版翻译有纰漏。
推荐这本书的理由，我就抄两段英文维基百科的内容来解释了：
The book explores how history is constructed, and how certain versions of
events come to be widely accepted as the truth, despite a lack of evidence.
The "Daughter of Time" of the title is a quotation from the work of Sir
Francis Bacon: "Truth is the daughter of time, not of authority." Grant
comes to understand the ways that great myths are constructed, and how in
this case, the victorious Tudors saw to it that their version of history
prevailed.
本书探讨历史是如何被建构，以及某些事件版本如何被广泛接受为真相，即使

书中用“汤尼潘第”一词描述被广泛接受的历史迷思，例如汤尼潘第暴动；或刻意
伪造的历史，例如理查三世的生平。这些线索反映铁伊对于大众流行的“历史上的
不公不义”煽情叙事的厌恶及不信任。
