2021:
To strengthen global cooperation on issues of concern to all we believe it is
vital to ensure inclusive processes in international organisations. We
support Taiwan’s meaningful participation in World Health Organisation
forums and the World Health Assembly. The international community should be
able to benefit from the experience of all partners, including Taiwan’s
successful contribution to the tackling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We remain seriously concerned about the situation in and around the East and
South China Seas. We underscore the importance of peace and stability across
the Taiwan Strait, and encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait
issues. We reiterate our strong opposition to any unilateral actions that
could escalate tensions and undermine regional stability and the
international rules-based order and express serious concerns about reports of
militarisation, coercion, and intimidation in the region.
2022:
We underscore the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait
and encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues. We also support
Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the World Health Assembly and WHO
technical meetings. The international community should be able to benefit
from the experience of all partners.
2023:
Furthermore, the G7 Foreign Ministers stated that we remain seriously
concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas, and concurred
to strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force
or coercion. We also reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability across
the Taiwan Strait as an indispensable element in security and prosperity in
the international community.
2024:
We restate the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait as
indispensable to security and prosperity for the whole international
community and we call for peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues. We
support Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations,
including in the World Health Assembly 2 and WHO technical meetings, as a
member where statehood is not a prerequisite and as an observer or guest
where it is. There is no change in the basic position of the G7 members on
Taiwan, including stated one China policies.
2025:
We remain seriously concerned by the situations in the East China Sea as well
as the South China Sea and continue to oppose strongly unilateral attempts to
change the status quo, in particular by force and coercion. We expressed
concern over the increasing use of dangerous maneuvers and water cannons
against Philippines and Vietnamese vessels as well as efforts to restrict
freedom of navigation and overflight through militarization and coercion in
the South China Sea, in violation of international law. We emphasized the
importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. We
encouraged the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues and reiterated our
opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or
coercion. We also expressed support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in
appropriate international organizations.
