Giving a further boost to the Narendra Modi government's ambitious 'Aatmanirbh
ar Bharat' campaign, French engine-maker Safran will set up a Maintenance Repa
ir and Overhaul facility for leading-edge aviation propulsion (LEAP) commercia
l aircraft engines. The MRO facility will be set up by the company as part of
its offset commitments. As per reports, Safran will invest $150 million in set
ting up the facility. Sources told HT that the MRO facility, said to be based
either in Hyderabad or Bengaluru, will apparently be announced tomorrow when S
afran CEO Olivier Andres meets Indian Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Sci
ndia. It also aims to further its proposal to co-develop with DRDO's Gas Turbi
ne Research Establishment a 110kn thrust engine for the fifth-generation advan
ced medium combat aircraft twin-engine (AMCA) fighter project.

设立该厂还旨在进一步与DRDO的燃气轮机研究机构合作开发110kn推力发动机，用于第五
代先进中型双引擎(AMCA)战斗机项目。
