这是希腊悲剧 Oedipus the King 里的问题。
Sophocles 的作品。
剧中妖兽 Sphinx 问前往 Thebes 旅客这个问题：什么动物早上走路四只脚，中午两只脚，晚上三只脚？
答不出来，格杀勿论。
Oedipus 答出正确答案：人。
婴儿地上爬行用四只脚，成人走路两只脚，老人拄著拐杖三只脚。
居然有人答出问题，妖兽 Sphinx 气到晕倒。
