Just Announced: This Year's 50 Champion Cities

COVID-19 has changed daily life for people around the world
and required that cities do more with fewer resources than
ever before. Yet, even in the face of a public-health crisis,
social unrest, massive budget shortfalls, and mounting climate
disasters, mayors are taking bold steps to tackle their cities’
most pressing challenges.
COVID-19 新冠肺炎病毒改变了世界各地人们的日常生活，并要求所在
城市用以比以往更少的资源来做更多的事情。然而，在即使面临公共卫
生危机、社会动荡、大规模预算短缺和日益严重的气候灾害的当下，全
球市长们也正在采取更大胆的措施来应对城市所面临的最紧迫的挑战。
The 2021 Global Mayors Challenge is the farthest reaching, most
ambitious to date. 631 cities from around the world submitted
applications earlier this year and, from those, a committee of
global experts has selected the 50 most innovative urban solutions
to emerge in the wake of COVID-19 to advance in the competition.
Of these 50 cities, 15 will win $1 million each—to help them
implement their breakthrough ideas and, ultimately, to spread
their ideas to other cities around the world.
2021年全球市长挑战赛是迄今为止影响最深远、规模最大的比赛。今年年初，
来自世界各地的 631个城市提出了参赛申请，全球组成的专家委员会从这些
城市中选出50个拥有最具创新性解决方案的城市，而这些脱颖而出的应对方
案都是因应COVID-19蔓延而出现的。
在这50个城市中，有15个城市将分别赢得100万美元：用以帮助他们实现突
破性的想法，最终将他们的想法传播到世界各地的其他城市。

Cities with populations greater than 100,000 residents were invited
to apply for the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge. The application period
is now closed.

WHAT IS A GREAT IDEA ?
The Mayors Challenge has identified the 50 leading urban innovations
that were imagined or launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While at different stages of implementation, these ideas all have
potential for meaningful impact and the ability to spread to other
cities.

市长挑战赛选出了在COVID-19大流行之后规划或推出的50项领先全球的创新
点子。虽然这些方案可能处于不同的实施阶段，但这些想法都有可能产生有
意义的影响，并有能力传播到其他城市。
WHAT CAN CITIES WIN ?
The 2021 Global Mayors Challenge gives 50 champion cities access to
world-renowned experts in innovation and data to help them improve
upon their ideas. Fifteen grand-prize winners will then receive
$1 million each to begin the implementation of their breakthrough
ideas.

2021年全球市长挑战赛让50个冠军城市能够接触到世界知名的创新和数据
