UPDATE: We support and encourage free expression and free
speech on campus and the sometimes uncomforable debates
that such speech inspires. Universities are a place for
rigorous debate and discussion of difficult topics, and
this is one of those times.
更新：我们支持而且鼓励校园内的言论自由，以及其所激发，
有时令人难受的辩论。大学即是辩论这些难以讨论话题的场所，

We did not intend to make a political statement by posting
this photo. The March of Flags event was intended to bring
people together and show the amazing international diversity
of our campus. We would have preferred that no political
statements be made on that occasion and we acknowledge that
some members of our community were offended. Having said
that, we support our students' right to free expression
and have left the photo in place.
我们并没有打算藉著这张照片表达我们的政治主张。我们希望
借由这次“国旗游行”的活动让大家聚在一起，彰显这所大学
有多国际化。如果可以的话，我们也希望那次活动中没有政治
主张。我们也知道西北这个大家庭里面有些人感到很不爽。
不过我们不会撤掉这张照片，因为我们支持学生们的言论自由。
