An irate and intoxicated woman has reportedly called police to complain about
the lack of marijuana available in a town on the West Australian south coast.
She told Esperance police on Friday that they had made it too hard to buy the
illegal drug around town, The Esperance Express reported.
“She was disgusted with what Esperance Police have done and would like us to
stop charging people for using or possessing cannabis,” Senior Sergeant
Richard Moore said.
“She sees the kids in her street daily searching for cannabis and not being
able to get it easily.”
Snr Sgt Moore said the woman claimed the lack of marijuana was unfair on the
children and low-income families who regularly used the drug.
She told police that their tough-line stance on marijuana was “forcing”
people to use meth.
Esperance police are continuing to run their “dob in a drug dealer”
community campaign.
