白宫回应网上联署 支持港人民主诉求
早前有人在白宫办公室网站上发起联署，要求美国关注港人争取民主，不要让六四
惨剧在港再次发生，截至今日(10月1日)早上8时，得到近20万人签署。白宫办公室
亦兑现过十万人联署就回应的承诺，今日在网站作出回应，指美国支持港人根据基
本法实现普选，也支持港人对民主之诉求。回应中也表明，普选应该让港人有真正
的提名权。
白官发言人Josh Earnest亦表示，密切关注并支持香港民主示威行动。同时向北
京重申，希望基本法的终极目标——真普选会在香港得到兑现。Earnest亦批评大
陆为了封锁香港示威的讯息而全面封杀Instagram。

We are watching the situation in Hong Kong closely. Around the world,
the United States supports internationally recognized fundamental
freedoms, such as freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of
expression. We urge the Hong Kong authorities to exercise restraint,
and for protestors to express their views peacefully.
The United States supports universal suffrage in Hong Kong in
accordance with the Basic Law and we support the aspirations of the
Hong Kong people. We believe that an open society, with the highest
possible degree of autonomy and governed by the rule of law, is
essential for Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity
