觉得应该是C
可是答案是A

这如果是考被动的话是A，但！题目的语意并不是考被动而是与过去相反的假设语气，所以我也认为答案是C。

我觉得是A但我不会解释The answer is C because it's past tense and there needs to be a be verb (been) for the sentence to make sense.(来自native speaker的答案)
