Warriors' Andre Iguodala questionable for Game 4 after MRI on calf
comes back negative
by Marty FennMay 19, 2019
The Golden State Warriors have managed to take a commanding 3-0 series lead
over the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals despite the
absence of Kevin Durant. The Warriors could be without another key player
when they attempt to close out the series in Game 4, as Andre Iguodala
suffered an apparent calf injury in Game 3 on Saturday night.
However, Iguodala's MRI came back negative, and he is listed as questionable:
Iguodala has continued to prove why he is one of the most invaluable pieces
of Golden State's dynasty.
The 15-year veteran averaged just 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists in
only 13 starts during the regular season, but he has taken his game to the
next level in the playoffs.
Iguodala has started in nine of Golden State's 15 playoff games, averaging
10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting over 52 percent from
the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc. He has proven to be a rugged
defender, frustrating the likes of James Harden and Damian Lillard and even
securing the game-winning steal against Lillard in the final seconds of Game
2.
As a former NBA Finals MVP and three-time champion, Iguodala is quietly
building a decent Hall of Fame resume. Although his days with the Warriors
have hardly been as prolific as his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, he has
readily accepted a move into a role as sixth man while still proving to be
one of the most impactful players come playoff time.
The Warriors would be glad to have Andre Iguodala for Game 4, but will also
likely prioritize his health with a 3-0 lead already in hand.
