SACRAMENTO – The crowd went into a frenzy, and Jordan Bell loved every
moment of it.
观众疯狂了，而Jordan Bell最喜欢这样的时刻。
This time, the Warriors’ rookie forward did not throw down a dunk that
showed off his athleticism. Instead, Bell hopped off the Warriors’ team bus
during the team’s championship parade and chugged Hennessey before legions
of screaming Warriors fans.

Bell pledged he will not feel tired when the Warriors play in Summer League,
which began with a 78-69 win over the Miami Heat on Monday. The Warriors will
then play on Tuesday (Sacramento) and Thursday (Los Angeles Lakers) in the
inaugural California Classic. The Warriors will then play at least three
games in Las Vegas summer league, beginning on Friday (Los Angeles Clippers),
Sunday (Houston) and Monday (Dallas).

It is not clear how many games Bell will play. Officially, they told him it
was optional for Bell to participate in summer league. Unofficially, they
suggested it was actually mandatory. And through that all, the Warriors have
left it open ended when they might sit Bell for preservation purposes.

Regardless, the Warriors have a clear end game.

“We’re trying to prepare him to come in next year and be a big part of what
we’re doing,” said Warriors assistant coach Willie Green, the team’s
summer-league coach. “He’s already proven that he can come in and play and
have an impact on the NBA. We want his skills to continue to develop and
continue to work on things that we’re going to do during the season. We want
him to go out in summer league and be the best version of Jordan Bell he can
be.”

Well, not exactly what Bell showed against Miami. He posted only four points
on 2-of-8 shooting, though he also added five rebounds, three assists and
three steals. He collected five fouls in a contest that allows for 10 of
them, as opposed to the six normally allowed in regular-season play. And with
the Warriors nursing a 75-68 lead with 1:08 remaining, Bell threw the ball
off the backboard on a fast break and then botched the dunk attempt. Bell
heard nothing but jeers afterwards.

That led to some teaching moments. With third-year center Damian Jones also
collecting six fouls, Green mused, “I told them they had 10 fouls, but I didn
’t expect those guys to use all of them.” After Bell missed on his dunk
attempt, Green pulled him aside with another message.

carve out a larger role for Bell next season. They became intrigued with his
athleticism and passing. They became frustrated with his decision making and
preparation. They offered mixed feelings over Bell also throwing the ball off
the backboard and successfully dunking during mop-up duty in a late October
game against Dallas.

He averaged 4.6 points on 62.7 percent shooting and 3.6 rebounds in 57 games.

with Bell’s improved work habits. And the Warriors have shuffled their
center rotation spot that suggests Bell will have increased responsibilities.

the Los Angeles Lakers. And the Warriors are not expected to retain veteran
center Zaza Pachulia.
