I want to change the status of representative people by transforming them
into the icons of a fictional and indeterminate religion, so in a sacred
object. In most of my paintings, there are blessing and curse at the same
time. The results can be morbid and disgusting but always fascinating.
That’s because at that moment, these people are no more ordinary people.
They are nearly gods.”
目前定居台湾的西班牙籍艺术家Daniel Arroyo (艾丹)，将于充满艺术气息的文化大城
台南举办第一次台湾个展。受到西方艺术教育养成，风格写实却又增添魔幻迥异元素，
透过这些看起来特异、超乎常理的图像，艺术家艾丹试图刺激观众的感官，创造观众与
影像对话的可能。创作素材来自艺术家的生活周遭，透过绘画及创作，重新诠释了艺术
家对于现实的观察与体认，艾丹的作品中采用大量陌生人的形象，加上亚洲艺术文化对
其创作产生之文化冲击，这些宗教符号如何与观者产生关系，又呈现出什么样永恒且神
圣的氛围，是此个展中冀望探询的主题。
