Introducing the 2018/19 Academy Scholars

There are 14 new scholars arriving at the Chelsea Academy this week as
preparations for the new campaign begin in earnest.

Andy Myers takes charge of our Under-18s this term after 10 years working
as an Academy coach, leading the Under-15 age group before moving up to
assist with the Under-21 and Under-19s.

All players in their Under-17 year are required to start the season on a
scholarship arrangement, before they are permitted to sign a first
professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday. The intake
includes a few familiar faces including Tino Anjorin, who scored in last
term's victorious FA Youth Cup final, and Marcel Lewis, who made six
appearances for our youngsters in 2017/18.

Meanwhile, a number of other youngsters have signed new professional
contracts at the club. Daishawn Redan, Billy Gilmour, Nicolas Tie and
Karlo Ziger have committed themselves until the end of 2020/21, while
Clinton Mola's new deal runs until the summer of 2020. Renedi Masampu has
agreed to renew his short-term deal.

New Academy Scholars 2018/19
Jake Askew (从U9开始的门将，却尔西球迷+前球童，充满自信，脚下功夫好)
Jake is a goalkeeper who first signed as an Under-9 after progressing
through our development centre programme. A big Chelsea fan and former
ball-boy at Stamford Bridge, he has always played in goal but is very
confident and technically strong with the ball at his feet.
Ethan Wady (上季中搬来英国，过去几年在美国业余球队当门将，进过美国U17训练营)
Ethan is a goalkeeper from America who joined us midway through last
season after his family relocated to the UK. He has always played sports
with his hands growing up and spent the past few years in goal at an
amateur club in the USA, while he has also recently been called up to a
USA Under-17 training camp.
Sam McClelland (今夏从北爱加盟的高大中卫，擅阅读比赛和带球，U17国脚)
Sam joins us this summer from Coleraine in his native Northern Ireland. A
tall, strong central defender who reads the game well and enjoys playing
out with his feet, he has represented Northern Ireland up to the Under-17
age group.
Dynel Simeu (从U13开始，来自南安的高大中卫，上赛季已出赛过，U16国脚和队长)
Dynel originally came in as an Under-13 via winter trials from local
recruitment. A Southampton boy, he is a strong, imposing central defender
who made a number of appearances for the youth team last season while
still a schoolboy. He has also represented and captained England at the
Under-16 age group.
Pierre Ekwah (今夏从南特加盟的左中卫，U16国脚，速度快，擅带球后上和传球)
Pierre is a left-sided central defender signed this summer from Nantes in
France who can play in either a back three or back four. A French Under-16
international, he is a quick and athletic individual who also enjoys
coming out of defence with the ball and has a good range of pass.
Jordan Aina (埃纳弟，从U8开始的后卫，总是面带笑容，踢的一直是防守位置)
Jordan is the younger brother of Ola, who also progressed through the
Academy ranks as a scholar and then professional. Always smiling and happy
but a committed defender on the field, he has been with us since the
Under-8 age group and has always played in a defensive role throughout his
schoolboy years.
James Clark (上赛季加盟的本地男孩，防线右侧通打，包括翼卫，很努力求进步)
James is a committed defender who signed last season from Leatherhead, a
grassroots team based near to our Cobham training ground. He can play
anywhere on the right side at the back, including as a wing-back, and is
constantly striving to improve his game.
Henry Lawrence (从U9开始，全家都是却尔西球迷，打过很多位置，目前是正中场)
Henry signed for us as an Under-9 having progressed through our
development centre programme. Both he and his family are big Chelsea fans
and he has since been deployed in a variety of positions throughout his
schoolboy years, though is predominantly a central midfield player.
Tino Anjorin (从U7开始，强大的B2B中场，擅打门，U17国脚，上赛季已出赛20多次)
Tino has been with us for almost 10 years after joining our development
centre programme as an Under-7 and then officially signing at the Under-9
age group. A strong, powerful attacking box-to-box midfielder, he loves to
shoot and score goals, which he managed to do last season in the Youth Cup
final against Arsenal. An England Under-17 international, he played
predominantly with the youth team last season and made over 20 appearances.
Ian Maatsen (今夏从PSV加盟，两年前就盯上，可踢左后卫、翼卫、中卫或正中场)
Ian is a player we first saw over two years ago playing in the Netherlands
for the Under-16 national team and his former club, PSV Eindhoven. He is
an adaptable and versatile player who can play at left-back, wing-back,
centre-back or in central midfield.
Thierno Ballo (年初从科隆来的前锋或前腰，奥地利U17国脚，速度快，可传可射)
Thierno is an exciting player who joined us in January from Viktoria Koln
in Germany. He is an Austrian Under-17 international who can play as a
striker or as a number 10, has good speed and agility, and can create and
score goals.
Marcel Lewis (从U14开始的剑桥男孩，可踢边中场或前腰，技术好，很努力)
Marcel has been with us for three years after signing from Cambridge
United as an Under-14. An attacking midfield player, he can play wide or
as a number 10 and has good technique, which he works hard to improve all
the time.
Armando Broja (从U9开始，可打边路但主要中锋，入球如麻，阿尔巴尼亚U16国脚)
Armando is an attacking player who signed for Chelsea at the end of his
Under-9 season. He has always played as an attacker, sometimes wide but
mostly centrally, and scored many goals throughout his schoolboy years. He
has played for Albania at the Under-16 age group but is also eligible for
England.
George Nunn (今夏从克鲁加盟的全能前锋，一年半前就盯上，擅跑位，聪明又有技巧)
George is a left-sided attacking player who joins us this summer from
Crewe Alexandra. He was spotted 18 months ago by our national recruitment
team and was monitored closely as someone who can play anywhere across the
front three. A good mover, he is a bright and intelligent footballer with
good technique.
