Brazilian esports organisation Pain Gaming has recently been dealing with the
fallout of sexual abuse allegations levelled against the team's (now former)
League of Legends player, Alexandre "TitaN" Lima Dos Santos.

Dos Santos was reported to the 1st Women’s Defence Police Station (DDM) in S
ão Paulo by at least three women on March 8. Specifically, the player is
accused of communicating sexually with a 16-year-old girl (Dos Santos is 25),
which included sending unsolicited pictures of himself. A second victim
claims Dos Santos shared a sexual video of her with third parties without her
consent, while a third says she woke up to him touching her inappropriately
after she passed out from alcohol consumption.

According to a report from Sheep Esports, board members of Pain Gaming
attempted to deflect blame away from the player during a fan meeting, which
took place before Dos Santos' termination.

The subject of the fan meeting was Pain's entry into the King's League, a
modified seven-a-side football tournament that uses power-ups and
unconventional rules. However, the subject quickly turned to International
Women's Day (IWD) and the allegations against Dos Santos, as promoting IWD
while employing an alleged sexual abuser is an obvious double standard.
According to the report, a board member suggested that the 16-year-old victim
"provoked" Dos Santos and that the situation wasn't too worrying because the
girl was over the age of consent in Brazil, which is 14.
The board also tried to suggest that the local culture of where Dos Santos
grew up could be responsible for his attitude towards women, though they
didn't actually know where the player grew up (Manaus).

Shockingly, one of the board members allegedly asked the assembled fans at
what age they lost their virginity in an attempt to minimise the seriousness
of Dos Santos' sexual relationship with a teenager.

After reports emerged that the DDM had taken on the case, Pain Gaming finally
decided to terminate Dos Santos. In a statement on social media, the team
said the following: "Pain Gaming hereby informs the dismissal of Alexandre ‘
TitaN’ Lima from the organisation. As an institution, we base our decisions
on principles and the responsibility we carry with our history, our
community, and everything that Pain represents."
TitaN was one of the most recognisable faces in Brazilian League of Legends,
having represented the region in the World Championships on three occasions
with three different teams (Kabum, Red Canids and Pain Gaming). He was made
inactive by Pain in January of this year, but remained with the organisation
until his eventual termination.
