ST PETERSBURG, FL, USA - The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) announced today
the four participants selected to compete in the 2015 WTA Rising Stars
Invitational, which will take place from October 22 to 25, as part of the BNP
Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
Caroline Garcia (FRA) and Ons Jabeur (TUN) will represent the Rest of World
group, while Zhu Lin (CHN) and Naomi Osaka (JPN) will compete under the
Asia-Pacific group. The second annual WTA Rising Stars Invitational
introduces fans to the next generation of women's tennis stars at WTA's
biggest event of the year.
For the second year, the four WTA Rising Stars will compete in a round robin
format in Singapore. Each WTA Rising Star will go head-to-head, followed by a
final match between the two with the best results. Finalists will compete on
the same stage as the world's Top 8 women's tennis stars as well as
participate in clinics and community outreach programs throughout the WTA
Finals.
The WTA Rising Stars Invitational event will showcase these next generation
of stars competing in an alternative scoring format. Players can also choose
to have their coach courtside on the player bench for the entirety of the
match and can utilize the newly launched SAP Tennis Analytics for coaches,
whereby players and coaches can access real-time performance data during live
match play on a WTA authorized tablet.
