The Braves released Michael Bourn
The Braves released outfielder Michael Bourn on Tuesday, David O’Brien of
the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. It’s not exactly surprising, as
the Braves designated him for assignment on April 2 and had 10 days to trade
or release him. As they couldn’t find any trade interest, they released him.
The Diamondbacks reportedly had interest in Bourn after A.J. Pollock suffered
a fractured right elbow, but have thus far utilized Socrates Brito and Chris
Owings in center field.
Bourn, 33, hit a disappointing .238/.310/.282 with 17 stolen bases in 482
plate appearances between the Indians and Braves last season. If he wants to
attempt to keep his career afloat, he will almost certainly have to take a
minor league deal with another team.

Chris Owings
