Due another raise through arbitration, Rodriguez was considered a likely
non-tender candidate, so the Rays simply decided to cut ties a little bit
early. He could draw interest on waivers due to his versatility. Rodriguez
batted .211/.258/.443 with 12 home runs over 259 plate appearances this past
season
