Chipper Jones hints at retirement after '12
Chipper Jones indicated Monday that he is thinking about retirement following
the season.
"I don’t know what next year entails," said Jones, who turns 40 in April. "I
don’t know if I can make it through this year." Jones acknowledged that this
has been the most physically challenging camp of his career, especially in
regard to his balky right knee. The future Hall of Famer's contract includes
a $7 million club option for 2013 which vests automatically at $9 million if
he plays at least 123 games in 2012.
