Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com was told that Bobby Abreu would welcome a
trade out of Anaheim.
The Angels recently signed Albert Pujols, creating a logjam among their
potential options at first base, DH and the outfield. However, Rosenthal
suspects they'll want to get a read on the recovery of Kendrys Morales before
exploring a deal. Abreu, who turns 38 in January, is set to earn $9 million
next season before hitting free agency. His production has slipped over the
past two seasons and he's no longer a viable outfielder, so the Angels would
likely have to absorb some of his salary to complete a deal. While Abreu
would welcome a change of scenery, Rosenthal hears that he is not the type to
demand a trade.
