Phillies lead in Manny Sweepstakes

队讨论超级球星Manny Ramirez可能的交易案。
费城人现在可能是达成这项交易案的领先球队，只要红袜和费城人这两支球队可以达
成这项交易的的话，费城人显然已经表示有意愿让Manny来到费城人队。红袜的官方人员几
天前承认费城人是可能交易Manny的球队，而费城人也表达了意愿。
其他两支对Manny有兴趣的球队则不是很清楚，但是自从Ramirez公开对球队高层表达
不满后，有消息表示道奇和马林鱼队都显示了对Manny有一些程度的兴趣。假如这是真实的
话，薪资总额只有2200万的马林鱼队会有兴趣是比较令人吃惊的。道奇队则不让人意外，
自从道奇的老板Frank McCourt买下球队后，便一直在收集红袜队放出的球员。相信在和道
奇队讨论这项交易案中提到了Matt Kemp的名字。
就在Manny曾经提到在波士顿这个热爱棒球的城市有某些程度的不舒服之后，红袜已经
好多年没有提到关于Ramirez的交易案了。而在过去几年虽然还是有这样的声音，红袜队还
是决定要留住这位不太愉快的长打者。
交易这么有贡献和关键时刻的打者看来有很大的风险，但是一些波士顿的人士相信红
袜队最终已经到了要改变心意的点了，因为Manny几周前批评红袜队的高层，然后他又被
批评在对上洋基队的第一场比赛不想上场比赛。
目前还不清楚红袜队会想从和费城人这项可能的交易中拿到什么。但是，左外野手
Pat Burrell和Manny有类似的统计数字(Burrell 103场比赛打出.277/.400/.585，有26支
全垒打，61分打点; Manny 98场比赛则是.304/.400/.538有20支全垒打，68分打点)，所
以逻辑上是合适的人选。就像Ramirez一样，Burrell也有不可交易的条款。在过去几年，
Burrell表达的意愿是只有交易到红袜或洋基他才会放弃不可交易的条款。
假如这项交易有可能完成的话，加入Ramirez将让费城人队变成棒球史上最恐怖的打
线之一。费城人的攻击能力最近有点下滑，如果可以加入预定进入古柏镇(名人堂)的
Ramirez可能会是很大的提升，Ramirez与费城人队的总教练Charlie Manuel长久以来便有
友好的关系，当Ramirez在印地安人队时Manuel是队中的打击教练。
Ramirez在他和红袜队的合约中有不可交易的条款，相信会让Manny在交易中放弃这项
条款，因为红袜队应该不会执行Manny 2009年2000万的选择权，让Manny在季后变成任意球
员。Manny今年的薪资同样是2000万，他则已经对合约中2009年和2010年球队2000万的选择
权感到不高兴。
The Red Sox have been talking to the Phillies and two other teams about a
possible trade for embattled superstar Manny Ramirez, people familiar with
the talks told SI.com.
The Phillies may now be the front-runner for Ramirez, who apparently has
indicated a willingness to go to Philadelphia if the two teams can consummate
a trade. Red Sox officials identified Philadelphia as a possible landing spot
for Ramirez a few days ago, and the Phillies have shown interest.
The other teams in the mix for Ramirez aren't known, but it is believed that
the Dodgers and Marlins showed some level of interest in the past few days,
since Ramirez ignited a public battle with his team. If true, the Marlins'
interest would be stunning in that they have a baseball-low $22-million
payroll. The Dodgers' interest wouldn't be surprising in that their owner
Frank McCourt has collected Red Sox since buying the team. Matt Kemp's name
is believed to have come up in talks with the Dodgers.
The Red Sox have held trade talks regarding Ramirez on and off for years,
ever since he first expressed some level of discomfort playing in Boston, an
intense baseball city. And as in the past, Boston could still decide to hold
onto the unhappy slugger.
Dealing such a productive and clutch player would be seen as a major risk,
but some people in Boston believe the Red Sox may finally be at their
breaking point regarding Ramirez, who criticized upper management a few weeks
ago, then came under fire for not playing the first game of a series against
the rival Yankees.
It isn't yet known what players Boston seeks in a potential trade with the
Phillies. However, left fielder Pat Burrell is having a similar year
statistically (.277/.400/.585 with 26 HRs and 61 RBIs in 103 games for
Burrell; .304/.400/.538 with 20 HRs and 68 RBIs in 98 games for Ramirez) and
could be a logical fit. Like Ramirez, Burrell has a no-trade clause. In the
past, Burrell has indicated a willingness to waive his no-trade provision
only to go to Boston or the Yankees.
If a deal can be completed, the addition of Ramirez would give Philadelphia
one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball. The Phillies' offense has been
struggling lately and could use a boost from the Cooperstown-bound Ramirez,
who has a longstanding and friendly relationship with Phillies manager
Charlie Manuel, Ramirez's hitting coach when the two were in Cleveland.
Ramirez has a no-trade clause in his Red Sox contract, and it is believed
that to get Ramirez to sign off on the trade, the $20-million club option for
2009 would likely be dropped, allowing him to become a free agent at season's
end. Ramirez is making $20 million this year as well. Ramirez has been
unhappy with the $20-million team options in his contract for 2009 and '10.
