英国一名13岁男童索克特(Robbie Appleby-Socket)在学校和同学打闹，不料手背竟遭一
支6吋长（约16公分）的木铅笔狠狠插入手背，痛到受不了。索克特的妈妈连忙将儿子送
医急救，但没想到院方却要他们“明天再来”，母子俩傻眼无助。
据外媒报导，索克特的右手背被一支笔头削得尖锐的木铅笔刺入，母亲心疼送儿子到医院
，心想只是要取出铅笔，非动什么大手术应该很快就能处理，没想到院方给了止痛药后，
要求手仍插著铅笔的索克特先回家，明天再来动手术。

整理一下事情经过，大致如下：
这位13岁小弟Robbie Appleby-Socket；礼拜三下午在学校玩耍时候，不小心把铅笔
插到手背。
The pencil became stuck in the 13-year-old's hand during a playfight at
his school in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on Wednesday afternoon last week.
这位小弟被送到Doncaster Royal Infirmary医院的急诊室(Accident and
Emergency Department)，医师会诊了骨科医师。
Robbie was seen by the A&E team, who were concerned and asked an orthopaedic
surgeon to assess him.
医院预计隔天礼拜四早上帮这位小弟手术，同时开了些止痛药，告诉他说可以回家休
息，同时半夜之后开始禁食。
“Robbie was listed for surgery the next morning
and sent home with painkillers to rest and fast overnight in preparation.
不幸的是，到了隔天早上，急诊又突然来了许多受伤需要立即手术的病人，所以这位
小弟的手术被延迟了
“Unfortunately due to a number of very urgent cases
requiring immediate trauma surgery Robbie’s operation was postponed.
医院再次告诉他回家等候电话通知手术。
When he returned with mum Emma they were sent home again and told to wait
for a phone call to reschedule the surgery.
这位母亲立刻带他到20里外的医院，那里的医院立即手术。
She took Robbie 20 miles to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield where they
operated immediately.
之后他住院打了两天抗生素。
He was then put on an antibiotic drip for two days in case the wound had
become infected.
