[文法] food 前面的冠词

修英文写作课的例句，但忘了老师说什么
The British are notorious for the amount of øfast food (that) they eat.
^ 请问这里为什么不用the?
后面有they eat来修饰food，这样不是要加the吗?

修饰的不是food, 是 the amount of fast food...
