Revealed: Mike Penrose, a former chief executive of UNICEF UK and Soccer
Aid, has been recruited to establish the foundation that would be charged
with using the £2.5bn of proceeds from the sale of Chelsea FC to benefit
the victims of the war in Ukraine.
Penrose, who is currently in eastern Ukraine, has just told me that he has
never spoken to or met Roman Abramovich, and believes that if politics are
removed from the creation of the new foundation, it could benefit the
lives of millions of people.
His comments may be significant, coming as they do on the same day that it
has emerged that government officials have significant reservations about
the approach to the structure of Chelsea's sale being adopted by Roman
Abramovich, the club's owner. More soon on @skynews.
